AI model uses ultrasound, molecular testing to assess thyroid nodules

A deep learning AI model that analyzes ultrasound images and molecular testing results improved decision-making for indeterminate thyroid nodules, according to a study in the journal Thyroid. The model reduced false positives by 11.5% by integrating suspicion scores from molecular tests with ultrasound features. "Because overtreatment is a significant concern in thyroid cancer management, our goal was to avoid false positives without missing malignancies," researcher William Speier said.
